Henry Barnes
A native Georgian, Henry Barnes attended Young Harris College and Huntington College on basketball scholarships. After graduation he served in the U.S. Navy and pursued several career interests including music before settling into his career as an artist. Barnes’ principal art studies include six years of intensive work with Constantin and Roman Chatov- Russian artists trained in classical modernism who also studied with the NY Art Students League and Robert Brackman. It was in the Chatov studio that he developed his unique color palette and achieved the feeling of light in his paintings. He also studied with NY artist Daniel Greene and with Yves Brayer, a noted French artist in Paris. His works are in many prominent corporate, institutional and private collections including First Union/Charlotte, Bell South, The Law Firm of King & Spalding/DC and a series of paintings each 10ft x 10ft of the 12 aposttles housed in the oldest building in Atlanta; The Shrine of the Immaculate Conception/Atlanta.
